GEM4D to reduce the number of vertices for large Trajec3D meshes

As I mentioned in my previous blog, I am working on the loading of larger pit shells in Trajec3D, but it will take a while to complete. There is an interim solution though, as GEM4D (next to Trajec3D on the website menu bar) is capable of both cutting a mesh, as well as decreasing the vertice count without affecting the overall geometry. Reducing the vertice count could result in the loss of detail, but not necessarily, as some vertices could be redundant.
The GEM4D procedure to decrease the vertices count is as follows:
Drag-and-drop the DXF-file from Windows Explorer into the scene window of GEM4D (or load it using "Load - Open DXF".
Manipulate the scene with the mouse as in most mine design software (and Trajec3D) - there are instructions to use GEM4D on the webpage.
Use the Clipping functionality at the bottom right corner to clip the file smaller and save the clipped file with "Save - DXF-file" and give it an unique name.
To further clip the file, load the clipped file again and clip in a different orientation with the "Camera" option where it clip the scene along the camera orientation with two mouse clicks.
Further reduce the vertices count with the button on the right of the scene just below the tape image (a sub-divided black-and-white cube image).
Select "Reduce polygons" and increase the number of iterations for a smaller file, you will automatically have to save the file with a new name.
Before taking the DXF-file to Trajec3D, make sure the file only consists of triangular polygons, by selected "Triangulate meshes" from the same button and save again with a new name.
