Trajec3D Version 1.7.1.4 available for download

Updated: Dec 15, 2019

The previous version of Trajec3D expires on 1 July 2017, and Version 1.7.1.4 will expire on 1 January 2018. The new version also has new features requested by users, such as a histogram counter and a fall body run-out distance calculation tool. Many thanks to PdG, JD and FB.

New functionality

  • "Ribbon => Analysis and Results => Runout distance" is a tool that calculates the perpendicular fall body run-out distances from a line drawn by two pick points. The distances are also saved to a CSV text-file to enable statistics on the values. Early days for the tool, and definitely room for improvement, please let me know. Below is a discussion on using the tool.

  • When inspecting the fall body elevation "Histogram" chart, a counter of the total number of fall bodies are now shown on the bottom right.

Discussion: Calculating fall body run-out distances

The run-out tool has limitations at the moment, as all measurements are taken perpendicular to a single line drawn with the mouse.

The elevation variance is requested after the second point is selected, which determines the difference in elevation considered above and below the picked line. Fall bodies outside the elevation limits will be ignored for the calculation. The run-out distances are given as plan-view two dimensional distances, with the elevation ignored in the calculation.

The screenshots below were taken directly from above, and the scene rotated until the picked yellow line is horizontal. The run-out distance for each fall body is shown at the top of each perpendicular purple line, which connects the fall body position with the closest point on the yellow picked line.
